Tron Storyboards on eBay

The other day I posted about the eBay seller the museumofmomandpopculture.  In addition to the original Tron cels they have for sale, they also have some amazing original pencil storyboards from the film.

These are incredible 4x9 pieces.  They have pinholes in the corners from when they were displayed for production.  Tron had to be completely storyboarded because of the complexity of every shot.  I love the dynamic lines of the one with the tanks about to fall into the abyss.  The one with the Recognizers moving through the mountains is more simple but no less unique.

Tron Production Cels on eBay

One of eBay's great sellers of entertainment memorabilia is the museumofmomandpopculture.  They currently have some rare and interesting original production cells from Tron for sale.

These are wonderful historical pieces since it's unlikely that any other film will ever use this labour-intensive process.  These are high contrast cels that allow for the circuitry patterns to be seen clearly.  Other cels would be composited with hand animation and colouring to complete the frame.

This next one is interesting because it includes two pieces of the composite.

These next two are 12x20 kodalith photos.

The listed prices range from $250-$500 which I think is a little high but they do also have the make an offer option.

Profiles in History Hollywood Auction 44

Profiles in History is gearing up for their 44th Hollywood Auction which takes place on May 14 and 15, 2011.  There are several Tron lots in the auction (lots 1103 through 1116).

The highlight is lot 1105 which is an original gladiator costume complete with outer coat.

There's also an original identity disc, several pieces of concept art, storyboards and some crew items.

Most of the estimates for these pieces are far out of the range that I would consider for them but maybe the recent Tron fever will cause them to sell high.

More Tron-ified Disney Characters

After iamclu posted his Tron-ified Buzz Lightyear a while ago, some other Disney characters have gotten the Tron treatment.  I think my favourite is the Tron-A-Bog but Jafar and Stitch are pretty great too.

Translating to Fashion

Another cool Tron video has surfaced online.  This one is called Translating to Fashion and it features brief interviews with some designers who have been inspired by the costumes of Tron: Legacy and created wearable fashions based on those designs.

Christine Clark is back to explain some of the foundations of the costume design for the film.

She's followed by jewelry designer Robin Rotenier who has designed an extensive line of necklaces, cufflinks and earrings inspired by Tron: Legacy.

Next up is Nichole Jordan of Tableaux Vivants who was inspired by the Tron look to create new womens' clothing items.

Finally, there's Canadian shoe designer Jerome Rousseau who's created a great shoe based on the Tron aesthetic.

Legacy of the River

Ian Douglas-Jones and Rousseau Designs from Britain have created an amazing new suite at the ICE HOTEL in Sweden.  It's called Legacy of the River and it was inspired by Tron: Legacy.  This year, the ICE HOTEL celebrates its 20th anniversary and Legacy of the River is one of 19 new custom suites.

The designer's website has some brief information about them and an embedded video that shows the creation of the suite in time lapse photography.

iamclu Tron Art

A user on deviantart called iamclu has done three awesome Tron: Legacy-inspired pieces.  Here's a Tron-ified Buzz Lightyear, a London double decker bus and a map of the London Underground.

I think the Buzz Lightyear is especially cool!  I hope someone makes an action figure like that.
